The 7 KEYS is an 9-week course that unlocks all the confusion around what art to make and how to turn it into a living.
Michelle will take you through the 7 Keys step by step so you learn more about yourself, your art and how to get it out into the world (even if you don't want to sell).
The course starts on the 16th of September and is delivered through a website with short videos and worksheets. A podcast format is also provided. Michelle will host a live video call once a week to support you.

30th September - Your WHY
Your WHY holds the answers to:
- What art you make.
- Why your art matters.
- How to speak about your art.
- Writing your copy, for example, your bio and artist statement, social media posts, marketing, interviews, website copy, 'about you' pages and more.
- Where to put your art.
- Who is going to connect with your art.
- How to Sell! Most importantly, connecting with your why will help you sell. People buy art because they have some kind of emotional connection, relationship or bond with the work.
- How to apply for grants, proposals, founding and gallery representation
In this lesson, I will help you delve into your WHY and pull out the most important parts to help you move forward into the next key.
7th October - Your WHAT
You take your WHY and turn it into something tangible. This might be your art, a course, or a physical art space. This can be applied to anything.
Your WHAT is what you will put out into the world for others to engage with.
In this lesson, you will learn how to:
- Describe your artwork
- Identify a thread that ties your work together
- Create a manifesto to anchor and ground your work
- How to create a strong collection of work that feeds into your WHO
14th October - Your WHO
As soon as you want to get your work out in the world and make a living, it all becomes about your WHO. This process still works even if you don't want to sell your art.
You don't need that many people to get going.
In this lesson, you will learn how to:
- Create an ideal customer profile
- Break down the different types of WHO that relate to you and your work
- Connect with your WHO and identify the relationship between your WHY, WHAT and WHO
21st October - Your WHERE
The context in which your work is viewed is important as it can be the difference between your work having a voice vs not having a voice.
Different places have different customer types and also price ranges.
In this lesson, you will learn:
- The many opportunities to put your work with a bonus eBook.
- How to understand the return on investment and whether the place will give you a good return.
- How to research the places that are a good fit for you and your work.
- How to choose the next 1-3 places for your work.
4th November - Your HOW P1
This is probably the one key everyone wants to know the answer to, right?
How am I going to do all of this?
In the HOW, we will dig into how you can stand out from the crowd and carve out your place in the world.
In the lesson, you will learn how to:
- Confidently price your work
- Convert likes into sales
- Write and speak about your work
- Turn your passion into purpose
- How to create a sales and marketing plan
11th November - Your HOW P2
I will give you fill-in-the-blank templates so you can confidently approach people.
In this lesson, you will learn the following:
- The four stages of marketing: attract, engage, convert, retain
- How to conduct power hours at each marketing stage to help you stand out from the crowd and carve out your place in the world
- How to use the templates I provide when approaching people
18th November - Action
In this final key, you will learn how to organise your time and make a plan to create your very own success plan. This key is about getting organised and taking action on the most important tasks.
I will take you behind the scenes of how I organise my own time.

- How to create your very own success plan, which will give you clearly defined next steps and a summary of all the keys in relation to your art.

Do I need any formal art training?
Nope, you can be a proud self-taught artist and learn everything you need to be a professional.
What do I do if I want to cancel my place on the course?
You have 14 days from the date you sign up to decide if it's for you, and within those 14 days, you can get a full refund. We think you'll love the course, but if you want to cancel and receive a refund, simply email us at support@unitedartspace.org within 14 days of purchase. After 14 days, refunds will not be available.
How do you take payment?
We accept payment by card or by PayPal. If you select to pay by payment plan, payments will be collected once a month until full payment has been received. We use a secure payment processor.
How long do I have access?
You have access to the course platform for 12 months, but you can download all the worksheets and audio, so you can have access to those for life.
How long will the course take me?
We recommend carving out 1 hour a week to work on the material. That is the minimum time I recommend if you want to make a real go of this. You will learn how to use the 7 Keys effectively, so you can go on to use them for life, working at your own pace. They take time to digest and process.
Do I need to create a collection of work before taking the 7 Keys Course?
It's OK if you already have a collection of work, as we can help you find your customers. But if you don't have one, we will teach you how to create one.
Do I need to have found my voice before taking the 7 Keys Course?
No, quite often the course helps you see you already have a voice or it redirects you towards strengthening your voice
How do I access The 7 Keys Course?
Once you sign up, you will receive login details so you can access the material via our 7 Keys Course website. The course will be delivered through video, audio & PDFs. You can access the material from your computer, smartphone and tablet devices. We also have our 7 Keys Community that you can join on Circle so that you can connect with fellow artists and 7 Keys students, but this is completely optional.
Do I need to be on social media to take part?
No, the platform is a standalone platform hosted on a website. You don't need to be on social media as we've chosen to host our 7 Keys Community on Circle, it's a lovely space to connect and a lot less noisy and distracting than social media!
What if I have questions or need support?
You will receive plenty of support as Michelle will host live Q&A sessions every week throughout the course to answer your questions on each lesson. As soon as you join, you will receive a welcome email that will include a welcome pack and details on how to reach out to Team UAS Support in case you need to.
Does it matter where I live?
No, not at all! The 7 Keys Course has been created for a global audience, meaning you can access it anywhere. The content is written in English, and the videos will have captions/written transcriptions for easier interpretation.
